Message from Our Executive Director Jeannette ChristosDear Friend,
I have seen poor puppies and kittens like this too many times - one of the thousands of pets who sit in the cages of local shelters, scared, helpless, and alone. Every time the door to the shelter opens, the puppy wags his tail in joyful anticipation. Because each time the door opens, he thinks his master has come back to rescue him from that cold and lonely cage. But sadly, this adorable puppy with the big eyes and even bigger heart may be waiting in vain. He doesn't know that his owner has lost him, or worse, abandoned him. Mercifully, he can't comprehend that the shelter he is in can only keep animals for a few short days. After that... I'm writing to you today because each year, Tri County Humane Society rescues thousands of pets from death's door. And, we never, never kill a healthy pet. But the problem of homeless and abandoned pets continues to grow, and we urgently need your help! We don't believe in "putting down" animals under our care. We're proud to be one of over 3,000 "no-kill" animal adoption organizations. This means that we will keep an animal until we find it a home. We never give up. Since our founding in 1997, we have placed more than 6,000 pets in loving homes. If a pet is hard to place because it is disabled or has emotional problems, we make an interim home for it at out shelter. And, we shower the animal with love and attention while we continue to try and find someone who can offer a permanent, loving home. I know you care about the animals that trust and rely on us - your donations will help save their lives... Sincerely, Jeannette Christos |
