| Welcome to the Family, Sammy
I can't believe it's been almost two years since I was adopted- time sure does fly! I just wanted to write and let you know that I am doing really well in my new home.
You may remember me as a shy, shaggy dog, but I've really changed since then. First thing, my mom cuts my hair (and I love it when she does) so I'm super soft and cute, and I've become such a cuddler and kisser. My mom and dad are really nice and I even have an older brother. He's smaller then me, but he always tell me what to do, but I don't really mind. He's taught me all sorts of things, like how to chase lizards and bark at squirrels. We play fetch in the backyard and take naps together. I'm so happy here; thank you for believing in me for so long (can you believe I lived with you for almost a year?). My mom and dad can't imagine life without my happy smile.
Love, Buckey, whose new name is Sammy

| Frisbee Wants a Home for Brothers & Sisters
My name is Frisbee and I was adopted 3 days ago. I wanted to thank you very much for feeding and loving me. My brothers and sisters are still there, but I know you will take good care of them.
My new mom is a total sucker and lets me do whatever I want. I even get to sleep on her head. She's keeping the name you gave me, and promises to try to find homes for more of my brothers and sisters.
I just wanted you to know that I am very happy, and to thank you very much for saving me. Much love to you all!

| Ranger Loves the Races
Just wanted to let you know that Ranger is doing great. He has a lot of energy and loves to run, so we joined a group called Performance Pups. It's a sports organization that holds all kinds of activities for dogs. It was started by people whose dogs are not the right breed, size or possess the skills to compete in activities such as flyball, agility or frisbee. It's all done for fun since the dogs come in all shapes and sizes. Ranger loves the lure coursing. He doesn't look like he is built for speed, but everyone is suprised by the low times he gets.
Thanks again for the fantastic dog! Wendy & Don Smith

| Mia Teaches Baby to Bark
I just wanted to write to tell you about the puppy we adopted from you in 2004. You had named her Baby Doll and she truly is. Her new name is Mia, and she is the most wonderful, sweet, affectionate dog in the world. Everyone in our family adores her.
Not only does my now 8 year-old little girl adore her, but also my 20 month-old little boy learned to speak dog before speaking human. When Mia barks at the door because someone is there, so does Aiden. When she (or any other dog in the neighborhood) barks, Aiden barks back. It is soooo funny.
She is so precious to our lives and I just wanted to thank you for allowing us the opportunity to give her the home she deserves. Everyone who meets this dog instantly falls in love as we have and we are so happy that she is our baby girl. Thank you again for all you do.

| Lucy, I'm Home!
I had another male Shitzu named "Sushi" for 17 years, and he died last year in July. I was truly devastated and never thought it would affect me so deeply. I never had children so he was like a son to me, and actually came here with me from Venezuela when I moved to the U.S. as a puppy over 15 years ago.
When Sushi died I decided NOT to have another dog for a while, since I could not go through that kind of suffering and pain again in my life. But one day a friend of mine called me and told me about a little Black and White Shitzu at the Tri County Humane Society, a little 3 month-old cutie called Panda. I told her NO WAY right away and hung up the phone... but then a little voice inside my head started talking to me, telling me:
"What if this is Sushi from doggie heaven sending you a "girl Shitzu" so you don't miss him so much? Plus she was black and white like Sushi, and was the same age that he was when I first adopted him so many years ago."
I went to Tri County around 8 am the next morning and as soon as I picked her up she started kissing me all over the face and I WAS DONE! I took her home with me that same morning after the paperwork and we have lived together happily ever after!
I changed her name because people tease me about my accent when I speak English and compare it with Ricky Ricardo's. So when I got home after work the next day, I said... LUCY I'M HOME! and she came running with a smile on her face, so I decided to call her Lucy from that moment on. Today she jumps every time you call her by her new name.

| Abbie - From Mommy to Her Own Dog
Abbie came to Tri County as a stray with 8 puppies. Back then she didn’t have a name, so she was called Missy. Her background is uncertain, but she may have been abused because she was submissive and fearful of most people, especially men. From the very first time I met Abbie, I felt a strong bond with her. Although my husband was uncertain about adopting a dog that was afraid of him, I insisted that she was the perfect dog for us.
In the past few months she’s really come out of her shell, gaining more confidence as time goes by. She’s really a great dog, and we're so glad to have her. She’s perfectly housebroken, never chews or destroys anything in the house, sits quietly by our sides, is friendly towards other dogs, can be let off-leash staying close by, and she is gentle towards children who approach her.
She is a fantastic companion who loves to go for walks so much that she makes me smile every time we go out. Everyone who watches her go by sees it too as she prances down the street wagging her tail, and they cannot help smiling at her as well. We are very thankful to Tri County for taking in Abbie and her 8 puppies, so that we could adopt her. We love Abbie!!!

| Benji Goes Home
Hi! My name is Benjamin but you can call me Benji for short, though you wonderful and caring people at Tri County knew me as Winston when I lived there. I now live in Fort Myers, FL and love it! I get to run around in a fenced in yard with my younger sister Angel. It's so much fun playing with her and my new family, Mom Jill and Sister Irene. They love me so much. I even get to sleep with mom in her king size bed. She bought me my own bed but hers is so much better!
Mom had me groomed the first day she brought me home. She calls me her handsome fellow & her little guy. I love to go for walks & meet the neighborhood dogs. I love car rides & now that I was neutered today, mom says that once I'm healed from the surgery, we will all go to the dog park. I can't wait!
My family & I want to thank you so much for allowing me to be adopted into a loving home. We think you do a fantastic work with the homeless animals. I hope & pray that they all find loving homes just as I have.
Sincerely, Benjamin, Jill & Irene Tanner

| The Duffinator - Lounging Poolside
My name used to be Bojangles but it's now Duffy. I was adopted a while back and I brought over 40 ticks to my new home. It put me in such a bad mood that I decided to single handedly ruin bits and pieces of their house including but not limited to rugs, clothing, curtains and some furniture. For whatever reason, the dopes that adopted me still love me and give me lots of hugs....I just don't get it. Anyway, I've finally trained them all and have total run of the house and although their other dog is bigger, I'm pretty much his boss, too. I thought I'd write just in case anyone remembers me or was interested and send a few photos along as well. My favorite pastime is lounging poolside or hanging with my new buddy. See ya ! Duffy, alias Duffinator

This is Barklee. We adopted him last spring. As you can see him has made himself right at home. There was a slight adjustment period for him, but now he has settled down and knows he has a forever home. He is the sweetest most loving companion. We adore him. We feel so lucky to have him. Lucky - A Survival Story
Where Little Dog Dreams Do Come True
Lucky was shot in the back leg with a BB gun and still has the pellets in his leg. He was thrown out of a truck and the car behind the person that threw him out, stopped traffic and picked up the poor little fella from the middle of the street before he was run over in traffic.
After calling several other humane societies and rescue groups that could not take Lucky, he called Tri County Humane Society and we sent out a volunteer driver to pick him up. Lucky immediately went to our vet, and not only did he have BB pellets in his back leg, but he also had a broken pelvis. We knew Lucky was in pain, but he would still look into your eyes and give you kisses, - it's as if he knew we would save his life...
Well, with the help of donations to Tri County for Lucky's medical care and lots of TLC, Lucky not only survived but recovered completely and was adopted out to a wonderful new home. Little dog dreams do come true with your help...

| Remember Bernard (Barney)?
Hi,
I just wanted to send you all a picture of Bernard (Barney), the white schnauzer we adopted from you on February 15th. If you remember him, you will remember that he was quite timid, shy and afraid. I am happy to report that although not totally rehabilitated, he has come a long way. He does not shake anymore when we approach him and he is very happy with his big brother, Bradley. They started playing together last week and they get along swimmingly!
Anyway, thank you for letting us adopt him. We love him so much! Thank you also for all the work you do to help all of the wonderful animals.
Sincerely, Cullen Elliott & Brian Andrews

| Georgia
My name is Georgia and I was adopted about 2 months ago. I love my new home, especially the big comfy couch. I found my perfect spot after minutes in the house. I also learned that I had a sister who wants to teach me everything she knows about doggie doors and swimming. I get the doggie doors (not always where to go to the bathroom though), but am not really into the swimming just yet.
My sister is a yellow lab, you would think that she was the high-energy one in the family, but I had everyone fooled! Once I came out of my shell, I became the exuberant one of the family. Sure, she runs more than I do, but I'm fast when I want to be. My sister likes to share her toys with me, we always want to play with the same toy though! I'm so spoiled, I love laying with my family on the couch and sleeping in their bed. I always offer to help them with their food, but they tell me no. I thought that I was too cute to resist, but not when it comes to people food I guess! I've made all sorts of friends since being taken to the dog park. What a cool place, I get to run around with all sorts of dogs, I love it!
Thanks for letting me go home with such a great family. I am really happy and doing so well! I wanted to send you pictures of me with my sister and one of me spying on the family from my favorite couch, I hope you like them!

| Marla
My husband and I adopted Marla, a white husky/shepherd mix back in July of 2004 when we lived in Boca. At the time I was a volunteer at Tri-County. Marla was very beautiful but almost paralyzed with fear of most people, fear of walks, fear of everything! We decided to give her a chance and although it did take almost two years for her to fully warm up to us, I am happy to report that she is now a very happy, well adjusted pup who loves playing with her little brother.

| Lindsey
On September of 2006, we embarked on a journey to adopt a dog. When my wife and son toured the Tri-County Humane society, a quiet, but determined deaf dog stole their hearts. My wife tells me that Lindsey's first look said, "Well, you're are finally here. Let's go home."
Since that time, she has been a wonderful family pet. She is dedicated to our family and is a loyal friend. We cannot say enough about the quality care that the animals at the Tri-County Humane society receive. Lindsey is ample proof of their love and ability. This picture is Lindsey playing around with our son, Matthew and our niece Madi.
Thank you for Lindsey! The Whartons

| Milo
Just a little note to say thank you for allowing us to adopt the best little dog in the world, Milo. We love him so much and he is so very happy in his new home. He just went on his first vacation with us to our family cabin in the North Georgia Mountains and he loved it. He also loves rides in the car, trips to Home Depot and riding in the cart. He is truly the most precious little guy ever!!
Thank you again for all that you do for all the wonderful pets out there just waiting to be adopted to a nice home.
Sincerely, Kelley & Harry Henderson & Milo
