Who We Are
The
Tri County Humane Society is a no-kill organization. Once an animal is
rescued by Tri County, it is saved for life. We will not release an animal
to another organization that has a policy of euthanasia. In addition,
we will only place animals with qualified prospective owners.
What We Do
...try to stop the killing over 45,000 unwanted pets in Broward County, 65,000 in Miami-Dade County, and 60,000 in Palm Beach County each year. We hope to place as many as possible in our no-kill shelter and find them wonderful loving homes. No animal will be killed while in our care.
Tri County rescues thousands of pups, cats, dogs and kittens each year that were on death row ready to be euthanized. That is why our no-kill shelter is vital to thousands of animals that depend on us for their lives.
How We Do It
Since Tri County took over the (the Lullis Ritter) animal shelter in July 2001, we have had thousands of adoptions. Some of these animals had been in cages for months, but now they have a chance with a family and a loving home. Our ongoing fund raising helps to meet our animals' needs with the best possible vet care and nutrition. Most of all, due to the efforts of our many volunteers, these dogs and cats receive lots of love and affection until they are adopted.
How You Can Help
We need YOUR continued dedication and financial support. Since we are not funded by the city or state, we rely solely on private donations to keep our shelter doors open. We desperately need your help to save these abandoned, abused and unwanted animals. All donations are 100% tax-deductible. Learn more how you can help today.
Definition of the term "No-Kill Shelter"
A true no-kill shelter must:
- never kill an animal, except for a humane reason, such as to end pain and suffering, and
- must never allow the transfer of an animal from their shelter to another facility that does euthanize animals for reasons other than those mentioned in #1.
To be a true no-kill shelter, a shelter must meet both criteria.
